Mount Voras is the third highest mountain in Greece (2,524 m.) Its peak (Kaimaktsalan) whose name is Turkish, reflects exactly the phenomenon of heavy snowfall, the quantity and quality of snow that the mountain receives remains snow-covered for at least five months a year. The top is decorated with a beautiful church of Profitis Ilias and a small ossuary-museum, dedicated to the memory of the thousands of Serbian soldiers who fell dead in the area during the First World War.

At the top of Kaimaktsalan has been operating the homonymous Ski Center since 1995, with thousands of visitors - lovers of winter sports. The Ski Center is developed on the southeast side of the mountain, at an altitude of 2,050m. up to 2,480m. (the highest in Greece). Its distance from Agios Athanasios is 16 km, from the city of Edessa 45 km. And from Thessaloniki 135km. Its operation starts from November until April because it is the only ski resort in Greece that accepts so much snow and duration. On the slopes of the north we find 14 tracks of varying degrees of difficulty. The following lifts are available for skiers to go to them

  • Sliding single-seater lift "SARANTOVRISI 2"
  • Sliding single-seater lift "METERIZI"
  • Sliding single-seater lift "KREMASI"

The center also has an equipment rental shop, two ski and snowboard schools, snowmobile rentals, luxury rooms for rent, restaurant, cafe, bar, snowbar at an altitude of 2,069m as well as many possibilities for outdoor activities.
